Pavla finished her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, Prague in 2006. Her thesis focused on Cell division of Giardia intestinalis and was supervised by Dr. Eva Nohýnková.
After returning from maternity leave, in 2012, she joined the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and later the Institute of Immunology and Microbiology, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University as a Primary Investigator. She is an alumni of Prof. Keith Gull's Lab in Manchester, UK (Erasmus student) and Prof. Wilhelm Foissner in Salzburg (Czech-Austrian Intership ACTION). She started a scientific collaboration with Prof. Gerhard Wanner (LMU University, Munich, Germany) and other national and international research groups.Pavla focuses on cell and molecular biology of the parasitic protist Giardia intestinalis, especially on its genome organization/segregation, cytoskeleton and drug resistance.
